Brake Oil on Verso-S

I'm thinking of getting the brake oil flushed and replace by a mechanic friend. The manual says Dot3 is required but when I asked my mechanic friend he said his machine has Dot4 and it's still fine. He would charge me £40 for his labour and supply with Dot4 oil

My questions to you-

1- Have you ever used Dot4 brake oil on your Verso-S?

2- Is a x1litre bottle enough for this job as the manual doesn't say how much you need?

It will say on the cap of the fluid reservoir what fluid to use, probably DOT4.

One litre should suffice.
