Hi,

I own a 2019 Corola with Toyota Touch 2 system. I cannot get it to connect to the internet via my iPhone.

There is no option for tethering via the bluetooth link on iPhone so I think it should be connectrd via WIFI hotspot.

It connects perfectly to the WIFI hotspot on my iPhone but there is no internet connection.

My phone connects via bluetooth with no problem for 'phone' and 'music (and works as expected)

The mobile hotspot works perfectly on my Iphone when I use it with other devices.

Does anyone have any advice?

Many thanks.

Do you have Android Auto/Car play update

Tethered means it's a wired connection you physically have it plugged in via USB

What internet are you trying to connect to? The head unit is only capable of connecting to MyT and only if you have factory navigation installed. On an iPhone you need to ensure you actually have a data allowance and that mobile data is turned on.

To do this, ensure you have a MyT account and you are connected to the car via bluetooth on the head unit

Press setup button

On LH menu set scroll down to Online and select

Select Toyota online and turn on auto connect

choose existing account and input your MyT username and password

if the car establishes a connection you should see option appear allowing you send/receive settings

Log out and back into your MyT account and the new multimedia device should be found.

Are you sure?  I could connect directly to my home Wi-Fi from the car. No phone involved at all. I used it to mapping updates then turned it off as it I could not get speed camera details with it on.

Thanks for your answers.

Yesterday I tried to do the same with an Android Mobile and it worked perfect. I connected the Toyota Touch to the mobile hotspot using WIFI. I could use the Waze nevigation app and internet radio.

For some reason it doesn't works with the iPhone... It connects to the iPhone hotspot but no internet connection.

As I mentioned, the iPhone hotspot works perfectly when I use it with other devices.

Has anyone been able to do this with an iPhone?

In which case you connected to your MyT account.

im trying to ascertain what the OP is expecting to connect to as a lot of people assume that can browse the internet which is not the case

Certainly true on my old car MM20. Though I notice that my MM22 model has a Web browser button but it does require a Wi-Fi connection. Not tried it yet.
I have noticed that the radio seems to use the internet radio a fair bit. At least the internet radio symbol appears regularly

Your MY 22 has the new smart connect system which has its own independent data connection ( free for 4 years )
