Wing mirror broken

Hi guys I'm here with a new problem. Last night someone decided to break off my driver side wing mirror completely ripped it off the only thing remaining is a few electric wires sticking out. On Monday I will attempt to source one from the scrappy. How difficult will it be for me to replace it myself as I can't afford labour as well as buying it. The car is LR53VJY. thanks so much for reading.

Hi thanks so much for your reply i couldnt find this video. Are you certain the manual mirror will be the same fitting as my mirror was electric.

Yeah you might have to be careful as I think the japanese ones and the french ones are slightly different, as when my Mk1 D4D's was knocked off my local dealer ordered the wrong one and I had to wait 2 extra weeks for it to come from japan!

Otherwise the fitting should be similar, with the main difference being there's a plug for the electrics rather than a hole for the adjustment stalk to go through.

If you get a manual one you may need things like the different inside trim (or cutting a hole in the one you have), and obviously the lever if it's not part of the mirror assembly.

ah if you have electric mirrors you need a electric mirror, yes you can fit a manual mirror as a stop gap

your car is French built so anything late 2002-2005 should fit

Be aware the one you  linked is a pattern part its non the same quality

Ok thanks again.I guess I'll just get a manual one and drill a hole in the inner trim for the adjuster stork thing. Will be cheaper as I can't afford electric mirror right now. Just needed confirmation of the fittings.

Update I have managed to fit a manual mirror off the same colour found in local scrapyard £35. I am missing the internal trim which can be bought on eBay for the tidy sum of 20 quid but I think I'll just leave it. Managed to break a couple of inner door panel clips while putting panel back on but I think I'll be able to get those quite cheap. At least I'm legal now.

Now I've noticed another little niggle. If the window is open even slightly while driving soon as I get to about 30mph there is a whistling sound from near that mirror. I tried putting my hand over various parts of the fittings but it doesn't help. The only time it goes away is when I close the window fully. This whistling was not there with old electric mirror.

Lol. Ive managed to fix it. when turning the mirror to close it the hinge needs a bit of padding to bridge a tiny gap whcih causes wind to make the noise. I put a piece of folded card in ther and the noise is gone.

You can bridge the hole with silican sealant if you want to paint it then use the putty for wheel repair then its paints.
