Hi All, last week I bought a 2019 RAV4 that I delighted with except for this Mirrorlink connection, there is no maps included and I would like to connect my phone the way other users can use Android Auto. Is there any way I can do this??? Appreciate all your responses in advance. Thanks

Has the multimedia unit not been upgraded to include Android Auto/Apple Carplay (although not available for the Icon grade)?

Mirrorlink and Android Auto/CarPlay are different things. Mirrorlink doesn't work on some brands of phone. AA/CP should just need plugging into the USB in the cubby under the heating controls (that's the only socket compatible). You may have to accept a.load.of things on your phone or change some settings.

But, as above, some earlier versions didn't support AA/CP and needed a dealer upgrade.

Sorry for late reply, I didn't get an email notification from the site. I have attached a pic showing the model number, I'm guessing no updates have been done on this system, see second pic, hopefully this sheds some light on my problem, thanks All.

Is it possible to Add a Nav system on this model???

Im living in Dublin, to answer that question

  • 2 weeks later...

Update: I contacted the Toyota dealer that sold me the Rave4 a few weeks ago. I enquired about what options I had, whether to change the entertainment system, or can maps be added? Can a head unit with Android Auto be swapped?

He later replied to my email informing me the Android Auto can be installed by the service department for a fee of €299 so I can use maps and Spotify from my phone etc

Definitely something to consider but seems a bit expensive for a bit of software?

Would anybody know if this software is available out there to install myself??

Thanks,

Dave

I don't know if it is just software, or if a module has to be added/changed. Either way, I doubt you could do this yourself. It does seem a bit steep though. I'm sure if you search these forums, it was originally £150, or £50 if done as part of a service. That was UK though and I'm guessing from the price in Euros you are not in the UK and it may only have been for the original purchaser. It could also be to do with the 3 year from new period as well, as that's when you have to start to pay for map updates, etc.

**Sorry, just read the part about you being in Dublin.

The upgrade was supposed to be dealer fit only. A couple of owners in Europe did try self install and bricked the head units - which, of course, wouldn't be covered under warranty. A couple of dealers also bricked the head units, but these were covered.

See -
