Difference between Vertical and Horizontal Detachable Towing Hitch?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hello,
Do anyone here knows the difference between Vertical and Horizontal Detachable Towing Hitch for Corolla TS?
Which one is less visible when detached?
Any other differences? Less secure or something else? Any recommendations?
I will use it to carry a bicycle rack and maybe some trailer towing.

TIA

The vertical tow bar is hardly visible when not is use and requires a smaller cut-out in the bumper than the horizontal tow bar.

We have a vertical on our Corolla and when it is detached, it is completely hidden, only a very small cut in the bottom of the bumper and the electric socket swings out of sight. However it is a more difficult to fit, you have to look under the bumper to find the receiving point and the handle to release is behind the bumper too.

As Marc says, the horizontal fitting will have to have the whole aperture visible.

Our Yaris has a diagonal bar fitted (assume a hybrid between vertical and horizontal) and the mount is exposed.
