Hi guys. How much should I expect to pay to have my rolla resprayed?I'll have to replace both front wings and possibly get new rear quarter panels myself...and I will also replace the hatch with a new one. There is not much rust on the bodywork otherwise...

I just had 2 Honda Civics resprayed (comletely external, not a bare Shell respray) down here in Cardiff and was charged £500 for the first one and £350 for the second. He did a real good job as well! Also coulda had metalflake added to the paint for £50 extra!

All I can say on the respray topic is look at the work the place has done previously so you know he's good.

Replacing the wings etc should be easy enough but the rear quater panels are like most of the side of the car aint they (IE - Over the door, next to the roof???) Could be easier to have all the rust completely cut out and then fibreglass it or something?!

If U want my sprayers no, gimmie a PM!

I am about to do exactly the same mate.

I have been given details of where to get replacement front wings/panels. The rear arches (if rotted bad) will need cutting out and new ones welded into place. Fortunately the rust is not too bad there on mine yet so I can just slap a bit of hammerite on and treat as per normal.

I also need a new rear hatch :( Am thinking of getting one from a GL and re-fitting the glass from my existing door. Any ideas of where to get a door?

I need the windscreen removing too and ridding of rot in the corners

I also want to replace all the window rubbers too as they are faded and coroding...

I wouldn't expect to pay less than £700 for full re-spray on it's own. If they are going to include de-rusting and oother treatments, I would expect it to cost around £1500.

its a dodgy area to quote on this, you do, to a point get what you pay for, but there are those that take the urine.....

I'm about to pay £1000+just for paint and materials for my lowrider but thats a whole different kettle of fish with a totally custom paint job using a specialist paint scheme, For flat paint on a rolla i'd expect to pay about £100 - £150 in materials then you have to pay the guy applying it.

Remember paint is more than just a 'colour' it protects your sheet metal from all sorts of nasty stuff. I'd get a few quotes, as them what materials they'll be using then go for one slightly over the average. unless you want custom paint, then go to a specialist.

people that drop flake (especially rainbow flake) into clear and blow it over factory oem paint need to be shot and hung out for all too see. IMHO

I paid £500 for a respray on mine in Aug 2000. That included 2 new front wings, filling the rear arches (which have now bubbled through) and sorting out the roof around the sunroof (which has also bubbled up again), also had the bumpers and skirts sprayed. He did a good job, but I just wish I had spent a bit more and got him to cut out the arches and around the sunny and weld new plates in.

Hello there,

With reference to you guys de-rusting and respraying, what's the sunroof panel like; apparantly this is a very bad area for corrosion. (mine back in 1995 was recalled for a 'check up' along with a load of others in my town by the local Toyota dealer I bought it off under the instruction of Toyota GB , however all these years later it's still fine.)

Also if you do replace the front wings yourself there are special clips/fixings around the front wheel arch area that retain the plastic inner arch. Go to your local dealer and ask to see the parts list to choose which clips you need. Do not try coging it up with self tapping wood screws like a friend did with his GTi!

The only area that you might have trouble removing the old wing from the car is the lower edge where it joins the front of the sill, again afterwards buy new fixing/mounting clips the old ones will be rusty from that area.

Have fun.

Thanx for the input guys.System~G,sorry but I dunno where to get a new door mate. I know Maldon Autopanels(thanx Jon) can supply front wings and front arches.Apparently you could switch the front arches the other way round and weld them in at the rear after cutting the rust out[thanx again Jon...hehe]. I think my rear arches r too far gone, but I'm getting a few quotes in the following weeks to hear what the guys say.

if you want the 1/4s replacing you can get them from Toyota but not sure how much i did both of mine took about a week. might be able to do yours if you want them doing

as has been said you get what you pay for most of the time with resprays although a mate of mine paid £2500 for a rage paint job on a scirocco, job looked amazing until you opened doors etc. the guy hadent removed anything like lock strikers interior trim. so you do need to get a few quotes. also ask if you can speak to a few past customers and see what they say about their work

I got my new tailgate last summer. I put a message on findapart.co.uk or .com.

It's for second hand parts, but just specify NO RUST AT ALL, and see who calls you. I paid £75 including the courier fees!! Then another £50 for it to be resprayed.
