Interior and puddle lights on when approach car

Hi,

First post. I have a 2022 Rav4 Excel and thought I’d got to grips with most of the features but was surprised today. Being night time, I noticed when I walked past the car, the puddle lights and interior lights came on. The car remained locked, I checked by trying the rear door. I’d locked the car by pressing the button on the rear tail gate when I’d closed it. I’ve now checked a few times, and when I lock the car in this fashion, by using the button on the tail gate, approaching the car either at the passenger or driver door turns the lights on inside and on the mirrors. If I lock the car using key fob, or pressing the door handle it doesn’t happen. It’s a nice feature but why only working when I lock by pressing the button on the tail gate? It’s possible there is a way of making it happen in other ways, but not found yet and wanted to share and see what other people think.

I’ve also heard that it’s possible to enable the “global open and close” features for the windows using the key fob, so will ask when I go for the first service. Has anyone else had this done? Found it useful in my Ford C-Max.

Generally I’ve been very happy with the Rav4, done nearly 6k miles and impressed with the economy and performance so far.

Thanks

Mark

Thanks Paul, useful to know. Is it the key fob they re-programme? Will I need both keys?

Dealer can do that or you can do it yourself using Techstream. You don't need to re-program the keys, it's just an option in the car settings...

Once enabled, you will need to hold the close button on the fob for about 3+ seconds for the windows to start closing, I find it annoying 😅

The one time when it's absolutely chucking it down with rain and you realize you've left one or more windows open is when you wish you had it!

I know on my C-HR it warns you a window is open on the dash when you switch the car off.

The My T app will also inform you a window is open.

I would assume a 22MY Rav would be very similar.

I used Carista to activate the global window opening / closing from the fob. I left the door lock barrels setting disabled for both functions.
