My wife has gone off in the new Aygo X, I am left with the 13 year old Aygo Blu and just been to the dealer to sign up for the service contract for 36 months for the X. For those that may not know Toyota have a reduced offer on this of £15 per month for the Aygo X at present.

Driving the old Aygo Blu compared to the X is like chalk and cheese. The engine is the same but it isn't. The X is much much quieter and smoother. The old one tended at times to sound like a motorbike.  Not the new one. The new is much more comfortable to ride in. I can hear the radio if at a higher speed. A much much different and better car.

It would have been nice if the seats could have been electric and with a position memory. My wife is 5' and our seat positions are quite different!

Not seen or driven the Aygo X, but know what you mean, we have a 14 year old 107 and the newer 108 and the 108 is much more sophisticated and well built car. To be fair the Mk1s were built to a price and it showed, but then again one reasons we got ours was for its plain and simple design and toyota mechanicals, it was for my Mum, so she didn't like complicated techo fest of some other cars. I just happy she driving a nippier and more safety featured car than her old Ford Escort!

Talking of seats at least the 108s go back to position they started in unlike the 107s, just one of the 'features' that they sorted with the Mk2.

Enjoy your new Aygo X, if it as good an improvement the 108 is over 107 then sure you won't be disappointed, but saying that in a strange way I still think our 107 is a more fun drive.

As long as you avoid the 1.2 versions of the 108 - the PSA Puretech engine has certainly earned its trade nickname of Purecrap.

Agree, thankfully they usually put the PSA engine in the posher versions of the 108, which were out of our price range anyway, so that was one bullet dodged!, but whatever make of bug my sister chose I insisted on the Toyota engine, styling and colour was her choice!

I do love the charm of the original, and I think they are great for short commutes. Loads of fun to drive & pretty bullet proof. Loved the warble of the 3 cylinder engine

It sounded like a motorbike! Same engine in the Aygo X but much much quieter and smoother sound.

Hello All.

As a buyer of the (Dutch) Aygo X Play model, the small frustrations discovered, most not mentioned by the specs and therefore overlooked.

One key with remote control is supplied with the car and One without. (second remote control has been ordered)

Spare wheel, there is no space for this, in the other models there is a riser placed so that the trunk space becomes smaller.
and because of this there is room for a subwoofer or spare wheel, presumably this will be a 16 "homecomer.

Spare Wheel, Dealer says, It does not fit and cannot be ordered (I will order that elsewhere and make it fit)

The Navigation button on the Media System (7" version) does nothing, apparently it is assumed that this is done by the smartphone.
Strange but there is a "Aygo X Navigation Owner's Manual" and there is nothing in it about Navigation.

There is only one USB connection in the entire car and this is mainly for the wired connection with Android Auto or Apple Carplay.
I am missing an extra connection and/or a connection for an SD card so that we can play the music from here,
now you can but then the smartphone has to be disconnected.
Could there still be a hidden connection somewhere on the device that hasn't been made?

Then I miss some things that the old car did have.

The automatic locking of all doors if you drive faster than 15Km, that is apparently not on here.
A Usb just for loading devices.

The Toyota mediaplayer also has no possibility to make a Wifi connection, there is a Wifi setting but this is only for Miracast.
In this case too, it is apparently assumed that all connections are handled via a connected smartphone.

I think i will add a smartphone just for the car.

Specs vary by model designation, WiFi smartphone connection is available on the top 2 models in the UK

All the information is in the brochure !

Inside the (dutch) specs there is nothing about wifi.

Stupid that I just assume that wifi is a necessity of life and is present in new cars😒

There is only mentioned that the units with a  9” displays have a Toyota Smart Connection.

As there are no Apps on the 7" device and the Map button don’t work, there is also no need any more for Wi-Fi. (smart move from Toyota)

The solution (i hope) Carlinkit 4.0, this makes the Android Auto / Apple Carplay wireless and give a usable usb for loading. (ordered one and give this a try)

There is also a solution with a 4G modem and a Wi-Fi router.

Carlinkit 4.0 ,works ,

After the first setup.

Power on and  it cost about 30 sec to start and to connect with the Smartphone into Android-Auto

No need to accept/ allow thing on the phone or on the car radio.
