Retro-fit cruise control to a 2014 1.4 diesel Yaris

Hi all,

I've done some searching and see this topic crops up a bit but I can't see anything for the diesel.

My last Toyota was a 2007 Avensis which had cruise installed as standard and I loved the benefit this brought to the relaxed drive over long distances.

I therefore now want to retro-fit cruise control to my 2014 1.4 diesel Yaris.

I have the multimedia steering wheel as standard and on the side of this is a blanking plate where the cruise stalk would fit.  I see on sites such as eBay / Aliexpress that I can buy a stalk and use that.  Not sure if these are good enough or must I buy a genuine dealer supplied stalk ?  The only additional part I think I need is the dust shield for the stalk / steering cowling plastics.

I am quite confident on car maintenance and o my all work.  I understand about disconnecting the Battery well before doing any work around airbag wiring.

Is there anything else I should consider or has anyone done this on a diesel before ?

Are there any pitfalls which could trigger an EML ?

The 1.3 petrol and 1.4 diesel are very hit-and-miss if the ecu is programmed, check and see if it has the wires underneath the column
