Car not locking when walking away / 2017 chr

Recommended Posts

Got keyless entry on my 2017 CHR, i thought that when walking away the car should lock itself, right? Instead it only locks when i press on the 2 lines on the door handle or the key obviously. Tried to check the vehicle settings on the infontainment and there doesn't show an option on how to configure the keyless entry.

I think usually keyless entry works both when approaching and when leaving your car. So you approach and you put your hand in the handle and u open the door and when you leave it should lock itself.

Proximity locking is the one where the car unlocks as you approach & locks as you walk away.

The C-HR doesn't have that system fitted - keyless entry requires user intervention, you lock / unlock by touching the front door handles.

No, that’s not correct. When you place fingers behind the handle there is a sensor and read your hand is there but when you leave the car you have to press the lines to lock it. 👍

Yup, there are touch sensors in the handle - The ones on the inside unlock when you wrap your hand round the handle to pull it, the lines on the outside indicate where to touch it to lock it.

I usually use the remote or the boot-lid lock button to lock as the lines are a bit inconsistent with my fingers!

Well i know my neighbour has a renault megane and he was showing me that it locked his car when he was walking away so there does exist a version like the one i described. I guess the chr doesn't have such system then

Correct it doesn't.

My C-HR does have some kind of proximity detection as it detect I'm approaching, then illuminates the passenger cabin before i reach for a handle to unlock it.

You have to be virtually next to the car for this function to work.

I have just disabled this function along with interior light on when switching off the car, preserving some Battery life. Now interior lights only illuminate when open the door. Passenger seat belt also disabled, thinking reverse beep but perhaps I am keeping it as I am use to it for many years. 👍

The Corolla doesn't have this function either.
