looking to become a 2 car family again!

Currently just have the 2020 2.0 Corolla which I use predominantly as the other half has been working from home for an extended period.

She will now be going to the office regularly hence the need to return to 2 cars. I am looking at a mk2 Auris Hybrid. Ideally the 2015 on facelift although a pre-facelift may be considered.

A few questions, firstly what sort of mpg can we expect. The commute is 13 miles each way 5 days a week, on an mostly an A road and 1 junction of a motorway, for reference the Corolla has been giving approx. 58mpg in the warmer months.

What are the actual differences pre/post facelift?

Thanks

Hi,

the auris 1.8 will be very similar mpg to Corolla 2.0 although performance like will be more close to Corolla 1.8. Better to buy 2015-2017 models if possible, as they have less issues. 2013 MY has well known problems and out of warranty cost fortune to fix, headlights, led lights, unknown source of bad vibrations, poor sound proofing etc.

I've been averaging about 52mpg from a 2017 on fat 17" wheels. Higher in summer, lower in winter. The smaller rims used lower down the range are slightly better apparently.

Facelift ... mostly cosmetics. Small colour screen on the instrument panel. Bigger screen on the infotainment system. Re-arranged heater controls. Better sound insulation from road noise, at least on the Excel. LED lights on the Excel.
