Do you need a Roof over your head ?

Panoramic, sunroof, and moonroof are available on certain models but are they actually worth it to purchase as an optional extra? Are they actually  used that much or does the aircon take priority on sunny days?

We've had several cars with sunroofs - all standard fitments - and liked the extra light the suroofs let into the cabin, and we used them a lot either on tilt or fully open.

I had AC and a moonroof (Why is it called a moonroof??) in my Mk1 Yaris - It was great in summer as you could have it tilted open so the car wasn't a furnace when you got in, and leave it open while you were driving with the AC on full so it would purge the hot air out the car much faster without all the cool air being blown out with it.

I do miss it as even with the lighter interior of my Mk4 it takes a lot longer for it to cool the interior on a hot day!

The problem is Toyota don't seem to understand this and think the panoramic roof is equivalent; I would rather have a normal roof than one of those - It just turns the car into a greenhouse in summer, esp. because it's usually fixed and doesn't open at all! It is easier to clean bird poo off tho'

A moonroof is a type of sunroof that generally includes a tinted glass panel and lets both light and air in without the second sliding visor part. Moonroofs typically will tilt open only a small amount to allow a fresh breeze into the cabin, but won't usually completely open all the way like a sunroof.
