Newbie questions

Hi newbie here. I have Yaris Design 2021 model. A few questions if I may.

1 The road signs on my dash sometimes have a white background and sometimes solid red. Example I'm in a 30 zone but not exceeding 30 and it's solid red so I'm not breaking the law.

2. In the UK what's the WiFi about in my car. Is it another way of tethering to use Google maps?

Question 1

I have noticed  mine sometimes  gets confused and disagrees with the speed shown on the sat nav if it stays solid red I check the sat nav just to confirm its wrong.

I don't have a built in satnav but the speed at the wheels is way lower than 30 for example, and shows red as if I'm speeding. Don't get what's wrong with it.

There is a TSB about the RSA/speed limit defaulting to KPH on the Mk4, the main stealer can do this update - 30kph is 18-19mph

Yep I reckon this is my problem for the speed limit question. I've contacted my dealer and hope they can update it. Hopefully it will be free.

The speed sign turning red indicates that you're exceeding the limit, if you slow down it will turn white again

You can also set the overspend  alarm  to sound at  3 mph or 6 mph (I think you can go as high as 9mph) over the limit, mine is at 3, I found it annoying at first but am used to it now and it has already  saved me getting a speeding ticket  when in an area I didn't know i  round a bend and there was a speed camera van in a layby
