Hey,

Yesterday i noticed, that 3 out of 4 doors, started creaking a bit when you open them. We did have quite a bit of rain in the last week and car was parked outside.

I did some reading online, and it might be a door check strap. I am planing to buy some white lithium grease (from WD-40) and grease them to check if it will improve.

Anybody else has similar experience?  My car is a little over one year old.

White grease usually fixes this problem but I’m surprised it’s happening on such a new car!

That’s normal to happen if the car been washed and door shuts cleaned with water or on cars that perhaps haven’t been used frequently and doors remain shut most of the time. The lube dried out. This also happens on rear hatch door hinges and when happened the door becomes stiff and noisy. People think it’s from the shocks but no, it’s from the hinges. I personally use wd-40 for metal, spray a bit and wipe the residue. It does the job almost invisibly, I also spray some into the emergency drivers door lock and lock and unlock few times, keep everything working. Wd-40 silicon spray on rug and go around all doors, hatch and bonnet seals before each winter. Keeps seals like new and prevents and sticking in freezing temperature. 👍

I agree with this. I’ve had doors that I could not open ‘cos the door seals had frozen to the frame. A wipe with a silicon soaked cloth before winter kept them free for a least a year. It also keeps them quiet as, as they get old and harden up they tend to “chatter” against the frame.

Interesting...

Would you recommend silicon over products specifically designed for soft plastics?

I bought both, silicon for the felt window holders or channels (where the glass runs, I completely ignore how are they called in English), and something specific for the rubber seals. For the time being, everything is running as it should, so zero complains so far!

I am not aware of any specific products, I usually use wd-40 products:

- red cap for metal parts, bolts, hinges , rust removal etc

and yellow cap silicone spray for plastics and rubber  particularly door seals, brake callipers piston seals, all rubber bushes on the suspension except stabiliser bar bushes they should stay dry. The silicone wd-40 evaporates quickly than red cap for metal. Both smells very nice 👌

You're right one more time!

They smell quite nice, but I prefer the silicone...

😁

Thank you!
