Servicing my Auris

Hey guys, so my 2011 Auris hybrid is due a service and mot in nov/Dec and it currently has full Toyota service history from Toyota, looking at cost it’s just over £400 at my local Toyota garage and an independent garage has quoted me £250, my question(s) is, is there more worth going to Toyota? Are there risks of taking it to a local garage? Will this effect the resale value of the car? Money being tight is my only reason for consideration but I’m adamant in keeping the service history up to date.

Hi, 

the biggest benefit from service your Toyota car in official dealer is the extend of the relax warranty and building up a connection with your dealer in case of eventually any future claims for warranty repair. Otherwise any god garage or diy mechanic can do it as good as Toyota. There are no specific tools or diagnostic equipment necessary to properly service Toyota hybrids., just a simple tools and knowledge. How good the local garage are and how good the dealers are is another matter. I personally would prefer to do the car myself, if not possible then official dealer comes second, and if too expensive as final option local garage. You need to check what warranty can be obtained if you service your car in the dealer , if your car is under 100k miles., because it’s already on the older side. Good luck 👍

Thanks for the response, my Auris has only done 27000 miles, an elderly previous owner maintained it brilliantly, I think I may go for the dealership

*Available on cars up to 10 years old - the OP's Auris is 11.

However, servicing at a Toyota Dealer will include the Hybrid Health Check which will provide the hybrid Battery extended warranty for 1 year/10,000 miles.
