We love Jap cars, after a Honda and 3 Suzuki's. My daughter has passed her test and wanted a small automatic. So I have registered here, on her behalf with her 2011 Toyota Aygo MMT. So I can ask the blokey questions and not embarrass the poor girl!!

Welcome....the MMT is of course not a "proper" automatic...it's a manual with automated clutch.

Sadly the Multi Mode Transmission has not been without issues and Toyota stopped using it some time ago now.

Do some searching on the Aygo forums so you are aware of the potential issues, The Yaris also used MMT for a while.

Nevertheless I hope your daughter enjoys the car.

Our 2017 Suzuki Ignis also had MMT gearbox, didn't give us any probs in the 4 years of ownership. The difference between that and Toyota versions is that the servos on Toyota are electronic where as Suzuki utilize hydraulics.

Hello Schnozz - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

Toyota and Stellantis used a developed version of the MMT - called the X-Shift in Toyotas and ETG in Citroens/Peugeots - in the second generation Aygo, Citroen C1 and Peugeot 108 produced between 2014 and 2021.
