My T Share to Car

Morning, all.

Hopefully I'm posting this in an appropriate place, apologies if not.

I'm the owner of a new Corolla HB/ TS, and have set up the Smart Connect multimedia system without any problem. My only issue is that my version of the My T app doesn't show the Share To Car option on the "Services" tab. Having contacted Toyota directly by email, I was told that "At present this function is not operational across the Toyota range". There was no reason for me to doubt this response, until yesterday when a friend at work took delivery of a new Rav 4. Even though he has the older Touch 2 multimedia system, his My T app does show the Share to Car tab, which proves that this is not actually a Toyota-wide problem, so I thought I'd seek advice from the more knowledgeable folks on this forum before reverting to a conversation with Toyota. Has anybody else experienced this, and (how) did you resolve it (I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app)? Could it be a Corolla specific issue? Is it phone related (I use a Pixel 6 Pro)?

Any thoughts and suggestions will be much appreciated.

Steve correct, Touch 2 Go, the older Tech has Send to Car.  The new Smart Connect does not. 

Don't loose any sleep over it.  I found it very hit and miss.  If you planned a route, sent it to the car, it would not appear straight away.  I have not seen anyone saying it was essential or even useful or nice to have.

Thanks for clarifying that. I previously had a Volvo and could send postcodes to the car from my phone, which was handy as I could search for a business or site away from the vehicle, then send the location which would pop up next time I used the car, saving me having to search again or manually input the info. Sounds like Share To Car isn't as refined as that. On the positive side, I've found the navigation search function pretty good, turning up accurate results for a search such as "Howdens Twickenham". My previous car sat nav systems would only search for road or town names, or POI, but weren't as effective at finding business addresses etc as the Smart Connect system seems to be.

Again correct, T2Go needed much more info to find a place.  Smart Connect is much better but is still limited by database accuracy and currency.

In the Smart Connect handbook there is a flaky app that is supposed to replace send to car, but surprise surprise, that doesn''t work either.

Where is that app, just in case they fix it 🙂

Even if it works it is rubbish. It only connects to the head unit via bluetooth so you have to do the send to car bit while you are in the car.

It is called NaviBridge and is on page 148 of the manual.

Strange. I used it regularly via Wi-Fi. Car did need to be logged into Wi-Fi though and needed to stay in range until download complete.

Not tried WiFi
