Dear fellow Corolla owners,

Would anyone know if it is possible to permanently disable to road sign recognition function? I can disable it through the menu, but it comes back on upon next start of the car. I find that function unnecessary (and with questionable accuracy most of the time), so would like to disable it to minimise dash distractions.

This is on a Corolla 2022 Trek.

Many thanks!

Unfortunately it is a feature that is included to get the NCAP score so it has to reset.

Thanks, makes sense. Never felt safer with it though, but that's just me 🙂

The Corolla is less meddling than the Yaris.

In the Yaris for reasons known only to itself will sometimes read the signs as km so if you are doing 40 in a 50 limit it will show as an overspeed warning.

IF that is not bad enough, it also links in with the adaptive cruise adjustment, a long press reduces or increases the speed to what it thinks it is so you can leave a 50 limit into a 40 limit and if it has misread it, the the car will try and lower the adaptive to 24mph with a single extended button press.
