Strange noise

Hi all, 

Our car (1998 automatic avensis) has started making some horrible metal scraping sound, almost like something is dragging on the ground while driving.

Seems to be coming from the front passenger side wheel. I did have a quick look underneath and I cant see anything hanging down or anything obvious. It doesnt really get any louder or quieter, only thing I can tell is that it sounds a bit different in reverse. Plus the car doesnt drive any different than it did before.

I've attached a quick video if its any help. 

Anyone have any ideas? Its due MOT soon anyway but would be nice to know what it might be.

Does it change to a squeal at lower speeds?

The usual culprits are the brake pads or the brake heat shield (They do tend to start looking like lace doilies as the car ages and stones and rust chip away at them, which makes them increasingly flimsy...)

Any chance you can spin the wheels to see if there is a rubbing sound?

Thanks for the reply. If I'm braking at lower speeds there is a squealing sound its been there for a while even since last MOT and they never said anything about it. Wondering if theres maybe a couple things going on with the brakes. Its booked into a garage for next MOT this thursday so I'll see what they think.

Any idea how much it might cost if they need to change pads/heat shield? Hoping its not too much
