Most annoying part of the CH-R

Recommended Posts

Seriously, this plastic thing is the most annoying part of the CH-R, it scraped EVERYWHERE. Where the corolla i had previously would not scrape at all the CH-R will scrape even though it's taller vehicle with higher ground clearance, or at least that's what it's advertised as. I thought at first there was an issue and the plastic had been removed slightly but even the newer ch-r's have this plastic thing so it seems it serves some kind of purpose, maybe aerodynamics or something but it literally eats about an inch of ground clearance.

Yeah, aerodynamic function. Some cars like bmw have these made of soft plastic that can bent in and out when scraping over kerbs. 👌

A few cars we've had, have had similar fitments -  including, from memory, a 2003 Mazda 323, and both the 2015 and 2020 i20's - so not a new thing.

Yea it obviously serves some kind of purpose and isn't put there for no reason but the feeling of your car scraping on every slightly declined road followed by a small incline is horrible, especially since it's not supposed to be a freaking lowered sports car it's a damn crossover. Never had so many butt clenches while driving a car in my life.

Are you sure you are scraping these things or perhaps lower spoiler (lip) under the bumper, because these can only touch when going over kerbs while parking.

Have a good look at the car exhaust system in case its a heat reflector plate on the exhaust bouncing about..

You can pull up at a quiet speed bump without crossing it and take a quick look but I doubt it help.

If all looks ok then cut some plastic off the wheel arch protruding lip but not all of it.

It is so close to the wheel I cant believe it would ever scrap on the ground or even a speed hump.

When I park my Corolla on my mothers drive as I reverse off, the drop down from the pavement to the road is so high and steep the underside of the front valance  will scrap.  Not a sound I want to hear so I don't park there unless I really have to.
