Issue with interior lights on RAV4 2013

Hi, I have been solving for 3 weeks now the problem on my toyota rav 4 2013 that the courtesy lights are still on even when all doors are closed ...

1, door ajar light on the dashboard works ok for all doors

2, I measured all door switches + cables, all work fine

3, I took out all the door switches but the lights are still on

4, Diagnostics (icarsoft only) shows that the light status is OFF if the driver's door is open (others are closed and status = OFF) but the light is still ON all the time. If I close the driver's door, the status switches to light = ON and other doors = OFF. Which seems like a reverse function on driver's door but the light is still ON all the time though, has anyone encountered this?

many thanks

OK, to start with a possibly silly question ... IIRC there is a control switch up by the rear view mirror that determines whether the interior lights are: always on, always off, or controlled by opening and closing the doors. What position is this switch in and does it function correctly in all three positions?

thanks a lot for answer, switch on dome light is in door position (when testing) and yes, measured both dome lights and switches working ok ...  I found that the connector has a constant  - (ground) on the pin that controls the function of the light in door mode but at the same time I measured all cables from door switches and they don't have any short circuit - I measured with multimeter in "beep" mode .. this I don't know if it is correct, but I logically concluded that the cable is not connected to the frame

Is that just the four doors? Or all five including the tailgate? Again IIRC, the courtesy lights should come on when the tailgate is opened ...

Given that the dashboard indicator correctly shows the status of the doors you know that the door switches and wiring are OK.

When did this problem first occur and under what circumstances? Is this car 'new' to you?

it's for all 5 doors - including tailgate and trunk interior courtesy light works and responds to open/close tailgate fine too

is there any control unit for interior courtesy lights or its just "hardwired" i cant find any diagram for 2013 rav4

yes its a new car to me, bought like month ago and this is the only thing that doesn't work
