Lifetime Average Fuel Consumption

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have a 2020 Orange edition and cannot find the right screen showing lifetime average consumption.  I see only the latest trip and recent trip consumption on the big screen after tapping the Info button.  When I switch off, a MPG figure appears in the small screen between the dials, but that figure disappears when I open the door. Anyone know where I find the lifetime average figure?  thanks

Toyota answered saying no lifetime MPG, just average MPG from last reset.

Assuming you have the My Toyota App on your phone, there is info under Hybrid Coaching that provides a range of MPG data.  Data is available on weekly, monthly and yearly averagesin the "Overview" section which I assume is broadly what you're looking for.

Additionally,  the section on "All trips" provides separate data on a trip by trip basis.

Unfortunately this option isn't available on the 2020 models. The MyT app for this year model has no Hybrid coaching facility.

This is correct. You still need to remember having your phone paired to the car EVERY single kilometer you drive, otherwise it does not get accurate data. My hybrid coaching has a 15-20 km difference compared to my total ODO because I forgot my phone in one trip and it never got recorded in hybrid coach. So the most accurate way if you happen to miss some trips on your coach would be to keep track on an excel paper every time you put fuel to your car, how much you put so that you can always do the math total fuel used / total distance travelled.

This is not correct. The trip records are transmitted via the eSOS / DCM SIM and are collected quite irrespective of whether or not the driver has a paired smartphone. Unfortunately, the system as a whole has proven to be rather hit or miss so trips are occasionally / frequently 'lost'.

This is very true - the best way to get an accurate overview of fuel consumption / economy is to do it yourself. 🙂

I started from point A, drove to point B without pairing smartphone, stopped the car for a while on a parking without turning the hybrid system off, paired my phone and kept driving to point C. After 1 day, the hybrid coaching map showed a route that correctly started from point A, but the route to point B was TOTALLY different (the one openstreet maps considered the shortest, instead of the one I had really followed) and then from B to C everything was correct. So from A to B, while my phone was not paired, the map made an assumption as if I had asked it to give me directions to a place choosing the shortest route. I had followed a completely different route which never appeared in the hybrid coaching map. What could be the problem, if not the phone not being paired? Also this has never happened all the times I pair my phone before I start.

I use an IOS app called Road trip, behind the app,  it works on an excel type spread sheet basis, all you do is enter your mileage, litres and cost per litre and it keeps a record (Total, Annual, Monthly) of your fuel spend mpgs etc, you can also enter other costs if you want to. It's free as well 😊

I've just downloaded it to give it a try

I have been using Road trip Lite (free version) for some time but a recent update has removed a few features, so I am thinking of purchasing the full version at £6.99

I only retain history on service and maintenance, and I have never bothered to keep records of fuel purchase or mpg figures.  After the first couple of months I lost interest in the hybrid coaching feature.  When I switch off after a trip, the MFD automatically tells me what my mpg and electric percentage was for the trip.

Been using Fuelio app and based on this I average 50ish mpg - my driving is mainly short distances from cold.

A few days, when I switched off. The MFD for a very short trip showed an mpg of around 16mpg.  I thought “crikey”, then realised I had sat sometime with the engine running to get the car to de-mist. 😃
