After dropping a scathing email to my dealer about the lack of communication and updates during the recall period and since - before sending this email earlier today, my dealer still had not contacted me to inform the recall was over etc. I have now had an update in writing that my car (BZ4x Motion, FWD) will be ready for pick up at dealer 20th of October.

Good luck everyone hope that you all get good info soon.

Just over 60 hours to go, waiting for confirmation is somewhat nervy...

Was told by Toyota US brand engagement that dealerships in the US should have parts in the first week of November. Hopefully that means I’ll have my car early-mid November. Wish it were sooner though…

I spoke with a helpful person from Toyota Online today.

They are actively working through the cars in the UK. They are able to fix 10s of cars a day.

Confirmed that my car does indeed exist and it'll be fixed soon - I didn't push for an exact date.

Car will be delivered at the latest in a few weeks. I'm in no rush, with another vehicle at home and my charger already installed, so I was very satisfied with that update.

Could you share your experience with charger? It is the one free of charge from British gas right?

At this point, since there is no tax credit, I'm not sure I mind to wait until after election to see if the credit can be restored (Warnock's bill to restore it with a phase in / phase out period).  Not sure I'm going to get it without the credit.

I went with a PodPoint installed by someone local to me.

I'm a business purchase so the charger deal doesn't apply.

BG has installed my charger and the technician made a tidy job. The only problem was that before it was fitted I had to get my electricity supplier e-on to fit a splitter between the meter and the consumer unit. Without this BG would not make the installation. The bad new was that it cost another £95, but they made the change within a week. Overall it took about three weeks.

As an aside, if it is correct that they are only doing 10s a day at Burnaston, why they are not pushing it out to the dealers. That way we get our cars sooner.

I think that must be because the Brunaston Hub is accredited to do this kind of work and they are modifying the car to meet the agreed new safety design standard. It can not be released to the dealers until it's been certified as OK.

Got a call from the dealer this morning that my car will be delivered to them next week.

Hopefully by end of this month I should have it. When ordered in June the first date that was given to me was 14th July.

Thanks for the update, great news for you !

Is your car FWD or AWD ?  wondering if there is some difference in deleivery times fr the AWD vs FWD

Also note that the Toyota UK website is still not accepting orders for the BZ4X

Seems strange if they have already resumed production ??

When I ordered I wanted silver motion with sunroof. I was told any extra will delay the delivery by 4 wks.  So I left it as motion silver FWD

Just back from the dealer and there was a bz4x in the showroom. My first ever experience. The car looks very nice and modern, very much like a rav4 but made lower and more aerodynamic. It had huge 20” wheels, I believe it was fwd car, high spec. Space inside including boot is ample, front seats are comfortable and typical Toyota one, however rear seats are not comfortable at all especially the seat base. It’s too low to the floor and knees remained bent in awkward position. The dashboard it’s strange , a bit too much going on, more shiny black plastic then necessary., but the biggest problem for me as I was expecting is the steering wheel and the instrument cluster. These two are simply not made to work together. No matter what we’re my adjustments of the seat and the wheel I couldn’t get it right and the top of the steering wheel had blocked my view of the Speedo completely. Apart from these two issues, rear seats and dashboard the car looks and feels great.

A quick update for those curious. "my car" is at the dealer. I got send a video etc. They're waiting on paperwork from Toyota to do the license plate paperwork. Which is well enough as I am currently on the road for work and will also be visiting family abroad next week for half term. I dont want a brand new car sitting at home in the driveway or worse at the airport. So I am picking up Sun 30/10 and also arranged with the dealer to sort out all paperwork remotely.

the "mytoyota" app has also updated. I know have a BZ4x under purchased car in my "garage" next to our Auris and still one on order processing .... 🤣

It looks like i can access the car via the app, but i am not touching anything there until its formally handed over.

Yes, please do. I took a test drive in Tesla model Y on Monday (and have one on order for delivery next month) and I'm still not sure which way I'm going to go (not been able to take a test drive in a BZ4X yet)

Fantastic news , really pleased for you, and thanks for the update.

is it just us, but all orders that seem to be arriving, look to be only FWD models ?

That’s really odd. I put over 2,500 miles on my car and haven’t had any issues with being able to view the instrument cluster. I can’t speak for the rear seating issue because I haven’t sat back there. I’m 5’11” (1.8m) if that helps any. The piano black interior is definitely a finger print magnet, and a pain to clean without leaving swirl marks.

The height definitely plays a role here. I am short only 170cm and the steering is blocking my view. Not the first car with that problem though, some Peugeots I had  tried previously were very similar. The rav4 also had a slightly lower back seat base but not as much as the bz4. From all cars in the showroom for me the most comfortable seats were on the Corolla GR sport, however less space and a bit cramped on the back. They never had a touring sport as a display car and probably the one I am most interested off. For the back seat low base or perhaps roses floor it’s typical for electric cars, not all but most of them, because of the Battery underneath. Teslas are the same. VW id series I believe aren’t and they have nice  height benches.

It's not just a case of height I think it's also the length of your arms and legs.  I found when I sat in a Solterra, many moons ago, that I could not get a comfortable position and see the MID display completely without shuffling about in my seat. I'm also 5' 11". There is little doubt the set up was designed to use the yoke steering wheel.
