Check parking brake / check vrs system warning

I have a 2010 toyoya avensis estate. Yesterday mid journey I suddenly had a load of warning lights come on (brake light, skidding symbol, engine management light) and warning messages to check parking brake and vrs system. Parking brake still engaging and releasing as normal. Car felt a bit more sluggish but otherwise seemed OK. Any ideas why this might all suddenly have come on mid journey? Is it still safe to drive intermittently until I can get the code read? Thanks

IIRC from my time as an Avensis owner, this relates to the DPF system having a problem or needing a clean out. Quite why such a plethora of incorrect warnings come on is a total mystery to me and many others.
