Key fob and key not opening door, although the beeps are heard

Our 2008 Prius has been siting unused for a few weeks, my husband broke his leg and I have been driving the newer Prius with working A/C....(we live in the desert).  Today I went out to prepare to use it for my husband's doctor appt. tomorrow, as it is larger and the wheelchair will fit in the back, however I cannot even get INTO the car. Neither key fobs will unlock the doors, beeps are heard, but no unlock clicking, plus the little key turns in the keyhole, but the door won't unlock. Any advice, short of having it towed to the dealer ?

Thank you in advance,

Rebeka

Sounds to me like the 12V Battery is flat. The little key should open the door, of course nobody ever uses that key, so the lock may be a little stiff, it should open the door so you can get inside the car and test the battery

Agreed, most likely low voltage in the 12v Battery. If you can’t unlock using the small physical key from the remote you can spray some wd-40 and leave it for 30-40 min then try again. Once you unlock drivers door you can open bonnet and find charging terminals in a small plastic box. Maybe you can Google it how to jump start a Prius with flat Battery. And the best is to buy and replace the Battery with new.
Good luck
