1996 diesel Lucida cutting out

Hi i’m struggling to solve this issue and wondered if anyone could help. 

I’m not a complete novice but my knowledge of these vehicles is minimal.

it drives ok then out of nowhere it loses all power and cuts off. it then really struggles to start. A little blast of east start (i know it’s bad) and it will fire up.

2  of the glow plugs were replaced, there is. bit of oil around the new ones.

it’s giving fault code 14 which i believe is the ignition system. 

any advice would be greatly appreciated

What size engine ? Do you know the engine code ? eg. 2KD, 2LT, 1KZ

When was the fuel filter and cam belt last changed ? Has the fuel filter been drained of water  ?

 

A quick look on the EPC shows it's the 3CTE as it's a 1996 car

cam belt changed recently, someone  else has mentioned fuel filter so i’ve ordered one

So i’ve finally changed the fuel filter… 

unfortunately i am still having the same problem. It definitely seems like it’s being starved of fuel, when it cuts out a spray of ez start reluctantly fires it up again.

any suggestions of what to try next?
