Problems with Android Auto - can anyone help?

Morning! I used my Android auto in my new Cross Icon for the first time on Saturday - what a shambles! i dont know if its my car being wrong or my phone so can you help..

What do i need on? Data, WIFI, bluetooth? (all or none of those things?)

When i plugged in, my phone asks if i want to charge only, transfer files or another ioption i cant remember - does it make a difference which of those i pick?

Every time i got it to connect, when i pressed the screen to put in my destination, it disconnected. Took ages to connect back up - the only way i found it will work is if i input the address into my maps then connect, then it comes up in the history, then it will work... surely this cannot be correct?

any help would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

Howdo.

You need to choose transferring files/android auto.

Have you tried a different cable? USB cables stopped being universal...

Some only charge and some have slow data rates. If you can, try and use the cable that got shipped with the phone.

Otherwise, check if your google app is updated.

If you are cabling, you need a good cable that can transfer data, and chopse the transfer data/android auto option in tbe dropdown settings.

I think you need bluetooth on as well but I'm not sure.

I would imagine you'd need mobile data enabled on the phone too, to get traffic updates etc. It doesn't use a lot.

If you get it to connect, then maps stops, do the other apps continue to be available? Is the phone still available (with bluetooth off)?

You will need data for live traffic etc

You can connect the phone with bluetooth, but not android auto. I believe you can still use android auto without bluetooth.

You dont need wifi

I would guess its a phone issue. There are far more phone variants than yaris. I know its obvious, but have you updated android auto? Restarted the phone?

Also, what version of android are you running?
