I have a Mk4 yaris hybrid coming in a few weeks, I was wondering does it reset after every start and refuel like the mark 3

You can tell it what to do I believe; I only have it set to tank average, so it automatically resets when I refuel, but you can also manually reset it on the headunit, or display a lifetime average, or trip average.

If you're getting it soon, I recommend downloading the PDF manual from the Toyota website and giving it a read through - Some of the options need to be turned off/on by the dealer so it'd be worth knowing what's available.

For instance, by default you can't open/close the windows with the remote by holding down the Lock/Unlock buttons, but this can be enabled should you wish.

If you want accurate/realistic data then you need to manually record multiple tank to tank volume-miles values. I've never seen anyone report a car generated value that wasn't more optimistic to some extent than that, though there is no technical reason for it. (If it was random errors then about half would be lower - and I've never seen any.)

I don't even look at the car's data these days - I just record full to full and miles on the clock.

I get that mpg is important to members but why not just use the display it may not be 100% accutate but its going to be near enough, no one drives exactly the same all the time so mpg is alaws going to change why be so obsessed about it.

I'm a driving instructor and set my pupils the task of eco driving on a lesson so having it auto reset is great and good for them to challenge there peers, I know it's not 100% accurate but it's close enough 👌🏻

You can change the settings to display either tank, trip or total average but it’s not as easy as it was in the mk3 to switch between them whilst on the go.
I have mine set to display the trip average which resets every time the car is started.
you can see more info about efficiency on the main big screen

More than that, the car actually disables most of the options while you are driving to stop you trying to change them on the move; You have to be stopped to access more, and in Park to access all of them!

67 mpg in Mark 3... I teach them to pulse, glide and coast and plan far ahead  trying  to not stop, to get the high numbers they need to be spoon feed them, they get it in the end
