Yaris Mk4 Hybrid JBL Speaker rattle

I have a really annoying rattle coming from the JBL speaker in the right-hand windscreen pillar. Despite my best efforts I can't pry the speaker out to fix the rattle. Any tips on how to get the darn thing out?

You need to pop the A pillar trim off, the speaker is mounted to the pillar

Are you able to detail how to get the pillar off?

I popped one of the covers off the left speaker, smooshed as much foam in as I could in there but still rattles, must be my A pillar speaker too.

Start at the top edge with a trim tool, vibration is usually trim on trim, try some Tesa tape on the A pillar trim, bottom edge

You may be suffering the same as me. I dont know what the dash is like without the JBL audio, but with it the dash is not fixed at the rear behind the dash mounted Speakers. It rattles against the screen or pillar or both. I popped the Speakers out of the dash and inserted foam at the back.

Just in case, removing the pillar trim is fairly easy, but mildly tricky; there are some videos on youtube to help. Just pull from the top. However, there is a clip that sticks to the body and to the trim. You have to get your hand in to compress two small tabs on that connector to pull it free. Then you have to place the clip back into the trim before replacing it. Slightly involved, but doable.

Right, all done. Bit tricky getting the pillar trim off and refitted, as you say Chris, but doable with care. Copious amounts of Bluetack applied around the edge of the speaker mount and trim - rattle gone! Brilliant. Thanks for the help

I had this fixed under warranty. There's a known problem with a service advisory. The trim covering the A-panel vibrates against the dash. Pushing down the speaker seems to solve the problem but it's not actually the speaker to blame. Easily fixed by the dealership.

How soon after purchase did you get it sorted? I've had mine 10 months.

According to my garage, rattles and vibrations are only covered in the first 6 months! 😬

As i said above its plastic on plastic, Tesa tape on the A pillar trim does the job

Oh I'm more than happy to sort it myself but if I could get Toyota to do it and they own the risk of breaking a clip I'm all for it.

About three and a half months. Took delivery late June, had the problem fixed a couple of weeks ago.

Ordered myself a roll of this

Get a more professional fix than just cramming in packing foam into holes.

Same thing as Tesa tape - 19mm x25m roll of Tesa tape is £4-5, 15m is around £3.50

Eg. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175329048548

When I went to get this fixed they tried fixing it by turning down the bass I tried explaining that it rattles when I'm not playing any music so it can't be that lol. They just lazy.

Oh and the other time they said it was my chlli bottle in the globe box.
