Apple Car Play Disconecting

Has anyone else had an issue with Apple Car Play disconnecting?

During a long trip this happened a few times, I've tried three different cables and it happened with all of them.

Infuriatingly it always seemed to happen when I was using navigation apps and approaching a complicated junction.

Have the same issue with Android too. Often says disconnect and reconnect which sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. Seems unrelated to signal in the area.

I was having the same problem disconnecting with my Android phone , some times 5 times in ten miles. Tried three different cables and and 2 different Android phones, still the same. Called my local Toyota dealer who suggested trying exactly what I had done. The dealer asked me to call round for a software update. Since then it as only disconnected once. I think that was because I hadn't fully inserted the cable

I had the exact same issue with my android phone.

I found the site below to enable the usb to Android Auto connection automatic when the usb cable is connected to the car.

In my case this cured the problem and since then I have had no recurrences of disconnection (touch wood!).

FYI I had a software upgrade and the problem has done away!

Mine has started doing this in the last month, and frequently too. It coincides with me getting an iPhone 13 too however will pursue the dealer software fix first.
