Is the engine in my car one of the engines that is often referred to on this Forum as "The BMW Engine. "

No. The BMW N47 engine was introduced in the 2015 facelift.

it will say on your registration 1ad so its a 1adftv 2.0 toyota engine im sure good enough engine that you dont have to worry about im guessing plus i think its before the dpf were put in them.but i know some were problematic with the cylinder sleeves im thinking. thats down to the coolant .im guessing if it was on of the engines and buying genuine toyota coolant for the car and flushing the old stuff out and putting in the new stuff be a good job. not sure how long should genuine collant last before changing it

Gosh ............. now I am even more confused. I also thought by the cars date of first registration then it legally had to have a DPF ?????

Seems it was , as suggested, before 2012. In fact it appears to have been 2009.
