Feeling a little ripped of by Toyota Roadside, can any one recommend decent breakdown cover.

Sorry not posted before, I have been a lurker for quite a while.

Last month I got got an email from Toyota Roadside Assist AA informing me that my renewal was needed. At the time I was planning on upgrading my car any way and trading it in for a newer Corolla, I just assumed like my Toyota Service plan I would be able to transfer it over, even if it there was a small admin fee. So I renewed for what I was expecting was a short time until I could change it over.

So seven weeks later I have just traded in my old Toyota for another newer one, I called up Toyota for my service plan and they sorted it no problem. Then when I called Toyota roadside assist they very abruptly informed me that I had failed to read the small print and they no longer allow you to transfer or cancel after 14 days. Okay I know legally they are correct but I have now paid for two years recovery for 7 weeks, on a car I have just traded in and they have point blank refused to help even thought I have called twice at the advice given to me from Toyota customer service. Sufficient to say I'm pretty annoyed now.

So can any one recommend a decent company that provided roadside assistance at a fair price?

Many thanks.

Toyota Assist changed their conditions in the summer.  I renewed in June and bought a new car in September.  They said I could not defer my cover.

I insisted that I had been told that I could.  They say they will now honour that promise.

I can endorse GreenFlag.  Word of warning, do not auto renew after a year.  Get a new online quote.

An utter joke that they would not transfer it over/changed their policy to that!

Hi all a big update for you all.

I have just filed a complaint to The Motor Ombudsman against AA after speaking to Toyota Customer services.

I phoned AA Toyota Roadside Assistance as a test, I told them I had just bought my old car and asked if it had any cover and if I could get it transferred to me as a new owner.

They informed me yes it does have outstanding cover for 2 years as I knew. But It's not possible to change the owner details or assign cover for the new owner without the previous owners details consent. So unless it's sold face to face and you are incontact with the previous owner you cannot use it.

They also told me that they would not try to trace any new owners to inform them. So basically your cover stays with the vehicle but they won't tell any one with out being asked and they won't transfer it anyway with out the person whom took it out. 😡

To me that is pretty shady practice, once I told them who I really was and why I called they offered me a refund minus £20.

In a way it's not a bad result in the end. Unfortunately this is their updated terms so u got a result. It's not their business to trace the new owner, no breakdown business does that and no reason to.

Well I suddenly got a random phone call today from one of the managers at Toyota customer relations, they informed me they are now investigating what I have said to them and have offered as a good will gesture to provide me my full 2 years cover on my new car. Result! 😉
