front tow eye Yaris (Verso) P2

Yesterday I tried to screw the tow eye thing in. To my surprise it need a lot of force and I couldn't get it past 4 full turns, even when using u long steel rod. Then is is only in for about 1cm; not far enough for my liking. When it came out again it did't look good, the thread seems to be damaged. 20221102_200300.thumb.jpg.4a86494854da3fd8717f4b6b2f589d31.jpgI tried the one on our other Yaris Verso and here too only 2,5 turns with bare hands.

The thread on the bolt is M22x2, which is an excisting industry norm. A 'normal' M22 would be M22x2,5, a bit coubikr.

The dealer showed me 2 other tow hook; thinner and a very coubik thread.

The ironmongers I visited told me that I need to measure the thread in the hole. But how?20221102_200129.thumb.jpg.0075c6750c66b273a64500cf74e09fe5.jpg

I hope the pictures come out good.

Please, any thoughts?

Hi,

Thank you for replying.

Can't really see in the hole, unfortunately. The bolt doesn't squeek/screech at all and comes out clean, so I think it's quite neat really.

Hi all,

SOLVED it. Took some extra persuation (=lots of WD40, a long bar and many turns in and out) on both cars.

Maybe it was just a bit of dirt in the holes and the paint on the bolts that needed to get out of the way.
