The brake lights come on in the PHEV when regenerating so I’d assume it would be the same in the BEV.

I like the one foot driving but I cannot find an answer to the question 'when you lift your foot off the pedal and the car slows, as if it were braking, does it illuminate the rear brake lights to warn following drivers you are slowing?'

Generally, it will, but only once you go past a certain level of slowdown/braking.

If you lift off a bit it shouldn't, but if you lift off a lot or let go completely completely it will.

From your Owners Manual (page 252):

■Stop lights turning ON
When the regenerative braking force exceeds a certain level, the stop lights turns on.

From another forum it is claimed that:

The regulations for the UK state that if the deceleration is
– less than or equal to 0.7 m/s/s the signal shall not be generated
– greater than 0.7 m/s/s and less than or equal to 1.3 m/s/s the signal may be generated
– greater than 1.3 m/s/s the signal shall be generated.

which sounds rather sensible. I've no reason to disbelieve this statement but haven't been able to separately fact-check it either.

OK, so I've found it ... sort of ...

Addendum 12-H: UN Regulation No. 13-H, Revision 4, "Uniform provisions concerning the approval of passenger cars with regard to braking" includes the text:

and I guess this has been translated into vehicle production standards ...

I'm glad there is a standard and it's not just set arbitrarily by the manufacturer!

I do wonder if it's set a bit low tho' as I have noticed EV driving around with their brakelights on a lot

I just hope it doesn't become a enforced thing as my driving style really doesn't suit one-pedal driving!

One benefit of EVs (and PHEVs) is the ability to pre-heat or pre-cool your car without exhaust fumes going everywhere. And with some cars, including the BZ4X, you can do this on a set schedule or trigger remotely via key fob and app.

Pre-heating in winter fully defrosts your car and warms it up. If you pre-heat while plugged into a charging point at home you’ll also keep the battery topped up at same time so keep your full mileage.

Do you have to enable this setting somewhere that it will top up the Battery while you pre heat the car?

Just a selection in the My Toyota app, no other setting needed.
