Hi everyone hope you can help bit of a novice here. My gf has a 66 plate aygo with 39000 miles. She has Ben complaining that the clutch pedal has gone really stiff, one garage has said it will need the clutch however another has said it may be something else? Has anyone seen this before and any advise. Thanks

Should add it goes in and out of gear fine and drives great, just a stiff pedal

Hi Anthony,

You might be very lucky and the clutch cable pivot points on top of the gearbox need some lubrication but think it's far more likely the clutch needs replacing.

39k sounds on the low side for the clutch to be giving up but then driving style will impact clutch wear. Riding and slipping the clutch will cause earlier failure, some drivers are prone to doing this without realising it.

Lube is the answer, it's a cable clutch and the cable may just be dry

Thank you all for answer. I will try lubrication first and hopefully that fixes it.
