Do I need to service my Yaris before trading it in for a new one?

So my new Yaris GR Sport is due in January, and my Mk4 Launch Edition is now on 19300 Miles, by the time January comes I will pretty much be on or just past 20k when its next service is due.

I Think the sales guy said it needs a full service history but I cant remember the details, anyone know the the in's and outs when trading in a car close to its service date? I don't really want to spend £300 for a full service on a car that I will only have for a few weeks.

Hi Tom,

Surely they will service the car themselves before it gets sold to the next owner. It makes me think that this dealer is trying to get you to service it so they don't have to and save money.

I assume you got a trade in agreed value when you purchased the new car if so was this part of the agreement to get yours serviced .

I also think the fact you are waiting for the new car and no doubt eager to get your hands on it they probably think you paying another £300 will not bother you.

If it is overdue a service they may well take that into account when revaluing the car.

You took the words out of my mouth and beat me to it Bob! 🙂

Just out of interest Tom, when did you first order your GR Sport?

Ive booked it in anyway as I have had no update yet on the delivery and want some stuff fixed on it too, but they want to charge me £120 to uninstall the dash cams that they installed when i got the car so I can move them to the GR Sport lol. will just do it myself or go to Halfords instead.

I ordered it in July (order number begins with LB) and they estimated January 2023, not sure if that's good or bad now because if details emerge of the 2023 Models in march and they have some big changes / improvements going to be gutting.

How comes you're changing from a Launch Edition to a GR Sport, if you don't mind my nosy curiosity?

A very good question and I'd be curious to know the answer too?

Well at one time if you serveced your car with Toyota then purchased a new car from them the service cost was credited to your account dont know if this still applies.

If January it’s not the pass 12 months date for service schedule just drive the car until reaching 19900 miles , parked it and wait till January to swap for you new Yaris, the dealer will have to service the car prior to sell as used., in most cases they don’t., so will be passed to the next owner. If your new car is delayed which is also possible and you need a car or 12 months date pass you have no option but to service the car yourself and pay £300. , or perhaps the dealer will deduct so,e from the final value.
