Hi Peeps,

Is there any chance someone can put some photos up of where these cameras are situated in there Rav 4 motors, I've just brought these and want to get them in the right place. Many thanks

General rule of thumb, ensure the camera lens is in the swept area but out of your line of vision.

Usually it will be high up, to the passenger side of the mirror.  Make sure it does not interfere with the passenger sun visor.

The rear cam is more difficult.  My dealer fitted it dead centre in the swept area.  Far too intrusive.  I had him refit it well to one side and higher up. In my case it is not in the swept area but the screen does not get that dirty in that place.

IIRC you should have a sucker option, if you do, do a practice placement though I found the heater lines prevented a good seal.

Not the greatest of pictures but ones I have posted previously here:

There are other pictures / alternative placements shown in that thread ...

Phillip, I gave no instructions either and they pigsed it both times.

I think best to discuss it before they do it.

This time I asked them to hardwire a CTEK cable to the Battery under the rear seat.  This time they sent me a picture of how they would do it first!

Roy, I rather suspect that Steven (the OP) is going to fit his dash cams for himself. He asked simply for "some photos up of where these cameras are situated in a RAV4 ... I've just brought these and want to get them in the right place". The pictures I posted show "the right place"; the thread shows some good alternative places ... 😉

Philip, agree, just following from your quote "I gave the dealer precisely no instructions - just let them fit in" should others not DIY but what to know the best place.
