I am in need of some advice how to unclick the rear ABS sensor.

Hi everyone.

I would be grateful if someone could advise me how to unclip the ABS sensor from the rear will hub as I would like to be able to test the resistance on the sensor and the power coming to the sensor.

I have had a look around it I can't see how it unclips without breaking it, which clearly I want to avoid.

The vehicle is a Toyota Avensis T25.

I attach a picture of the clip. if some has close up photo of the hub part and or the sensor unconnected that may be helpful. As being told how to un-clip it as it the first time I've seen these type of clips.

I've attached some photo's of the actual plug that I am wanting to unconnect.

Thank you all kindly in advance.

With a small flat blade push the tab down then wiggle/pull

Thank you kindly flash22

I have managed to get the sensor un-clipped. However the heavens have just opened up.
As I plan to check if I am getting a AC voltage through the sensor and I'll be checking the resistance.

As I am having a ABS issue where the ABS light pops on about 1 min after the engine is turned on and static or in motion. So I am hoping I can through deductive logic isolate the problem.

Again any feed back welcome.

I think you may also need to do a diagnostic check to help. If you don't have a scanner, you can use the paperclip method connecting pins 4 and 13 on the OBD port and turn the key to IGN on, but do not start the engine. image.png.b4b9ea021718dd4ed5a245826e7712a2.png

The ABS and SRS warnings will flash in Morse code style to indicate any stored faults. Constant flash at regular intervals normally states no codes stored. Any flashes with a short pause then another set of flashes, means codes are stored. 3 flashes, pause 1 flash then long pause, mean code 31 = front wheel speed sensor signal malfunction.

Hope this info helps.

Hi Wayne, I think the way forward would be to buy a OBD2 reader as it will tell you exactly what sensor is faulty. Would save you a lot of messing around and avoiding breaking a working sensor just to check it.

With your vehicle being a 2005 you would most likely use the reader on a regular basis.

I think it would be a Wisemove  👍

If it's a diesel a standard obd2 tool may not work as it requires K-line, most basic tools only do Can or KWP2000 what's fine for Petrol cars, Toyota diesels pre 08-ish are old school diagnostics
