Infotainment crashing when using Waze and taking a call

We have a 21 plate C-HR and have started to have issues with the infotainment system crashing whilst using Waze and  taking a call on an iPhone (12). The Waze screen goes pixelated and then the screen goes black and says Toyota. The only way to sort it out appears to be to unplug  the phone let the system restart and plug the phone back in. We are using a genuine Apple cable so that is not the cause (non Apple cables often cause issues). 

The car will be in for a service in the next 8/10 weeks so will ask for the infotainment software to be checked/updated if it’s out of date. 

 

Has anyone had similar issues ?

Sounds like a firmware issue, but have you tried clearing the app cache to see if this makes any difference.

Other than swapping Apple cables to see if that was the problem (often the case with Apple products) I’ve not had a look at anything else. Will look at your suggestion 👍😊

Apple implementation of bluetooth can be flaky, turn off bluetooth and test

Spoke to the service team and they will have a look at the issue at next service and check firmware. 
 

The CEO has also noted that if she takes a call (screen goes to phone) and does not put the Waze display back on the screen during a call, and waits until the call ends, the system  doesn’t crash. 

Now this could actually be a good thing as she will only answer when she’s knows where she is and keeps calls short as she likes Waze on all the time.
