Hi Everyone

I currently have a ABS issue when in motion or even when the car is static the ABS lamp pops up just over a min.

Currently checked the following:
Fuses under the bonnet all check out fine.

All tire pressures have been made as they should be.

The front drives side sensor had a lot of metallic particles on the sensor which I have removed and replaced. The reluctor or tone ring has been checked no damage.

I attempted the front passenger side sensor it had a minor amount of debris. But the mounting bolt sheered so that needs to be solved. I will give a up date as I progress through the car.

My question is would the sensors be a issue if the car is not in motion. I did have a garage quickly try a read the codes he said he could not find nothing, he told me he had reset the codes yet the car popped up with the light shortly after.  So here I am trying to work through most of the check points to locate the problem.

Any advice welcome. Thank you kindly.

Pull the codes from the car, otherwise you're urinating in the wind

Regarding the bolt head to the ABS sensor shearing off, I had this happen to me when replacing a wheel bearing on my Mk1 T22.

The small bolt holding the ABS sensor sheared off at the head. I managed to carefully drill and extract the remains of the bolt, then used bolt from a collection of I had, using cooper grease on the threads to reduce the chance of it seizing again.

I also remember on this forum, somebody who took their car to a garage for a wheel bearing replacement, and the garage damaged the hub when they drilled out a seized sensor bolt using an oversized drill bit! The sensor could not sit correct in the hub due to the botched job, cause the ABS light to come on! The only fix was a replacement hub. In some situations and depending on the model of car, the ABS sensor has to be removed from the hub or any work cannot be done. That means unplugging the sensor in the wheel arch may not help.

Here is a post on the subject -
