My 2015 2L diesel avensis has been having egr issues recently engine management light comes on along with check parking brake system for some reason but parking brake system is fine .
Had it on the computer was coming up with egr fault ended up replacing egr valve but still after a cpl days same thing happened also it will loose power not all but very noticeable sitting at 60mph in 5th it won't want to go any faster.  I turn engine off for 10 min then start again and it runs fine albeit with warning lights still on for a day or so then same happens.  Any ideas as to what it is ? Garage seems stumpe.

I've done a regeneration changed egr but it's really starting to get annoying. I clear codes for egr it runs like a steam train for a day them dashboard lights up like a Xmas tree again with same warning lights and check parking brake system any help appreciated . Cheers

Which engine do you have? 1AD-FTV or 2WW.  2WW being used after the 2015 facelift.

Hi I take It it's the 1AD-FTV as toyota mechanic I was talking to was telling me I have the last engine made before it changed he was saying it should go and go and go but newer face-lift models have had numerous recalls . Hope this helps

The thing is the lights go off for a day or so everything is perfect then boom back to Xmas tree lights and cycle starts all over again loss of power etc which makes me think could it be a faulty sensor somewhere

Do you know the code number that the OBD was giving?

I dont at the moment ill need to wait for the lights to come back on but last time I googled the code it was coming up EGR fault same as always there was no fault code for braking system even though check parking brake system was coming up but I take it that if something else is going on it might inadvertently set that off too as a safety feature with most electrical things linked

Really need the exact code(s) in order to diagnose accurately.  There are many codes that relate to EGR trouble and the following ones will put the engine into a reduced power mode: P0400, P0405, P0406, P042E, P0488, P0489, P0490.

Depending on which code is stored, the trouble could lie with a range of components - EGR valve, EGR valve passage, EGR cooler, MAF sensor, EGR sensor circuit, ECM, throttle valve/circuit.

Try to generate the code again as this will narrow down the problem area.

Will the codes get stored in memory so they can be read even if the issue is not occurring at the time. Similar issue lately, the VSC error returns intermittently with reduced power. I also get the odd miss while in reduced power so I'm being told it's pointing to an injector issue and to change all 4 is eye watering.
