I have a 2019 1.5 and was sure I had asked the same question but cannot find it, I assume both Battery and oil warning lights are in the strip at the top of the display but it's only a guess, I wonder why they do not illuminate at startup like on most cars for driver peace of mind.

Cheers for replying,I'm a bit ashamed as I'm an ex motor technician and never came across a manufacturer that didn't have an oil pressure warning light. I presumed that the engine mil light and or the master warning triangle would illuminate in the absence of this crucial warning light.

Peugeot / Citroen multiplexing system ( around 20 years ago ) was known to not show the oil pressure warning light at pre start bulb check - it was a design quirk of the time.

If you did an actuator test on the system the warning light would show.

As a former Austin Metro owner - every time you applied the parking brake you got 3 lights shining in front of you.

the red parking brake warning light ( P )

the red low brake fluid warning light ( ! )

& the orange low front brake pad warning light ( O )

Apparently it was to prove the bulbs where all working for drivers peace of mind, an annoying feature plenty of people complained about.

  • 2 months later...

Did you find out why there is no oil pressure warning light when you turn the ignition on?

Hi Unfortunately no-one could tell me why toyota didn't include an oil warning light although my next-door neighbour has the exact same car albeit 2yrs older and it has the oil warning light. I presume the main engine warning light will illuminate if the oil pressure drops. The Peugeot 2008 also doesn't have an oil warning light. Maybe its a cost cutting  exercise.

Thanks. i like to see the oil and Battery warning light illuminate when you turn the ignition and go out when the engine fires for me its peace of mind and it still irritates me that i cannot see this on my MK3 after all these months.

I have looked through the online manual and cannot seem to find any info.

That's exactly my concern too. I am going to contact toyota and get their reaction. I will post their comments once I have a response.

This is all new to me Max.  I didn’t know oil warning lights weren’t displayed on your vehicle and the fact the online manual makes no reference to it either.

I don't think the manual i read was an official Toyota one as i said above i haven't got my Vin, i have done quite a bit of searching and cannot find the answer, with luck Wardy can get into the site and get us the answer.

So all 1.5 non hybrid Yaris has no red oil warning lights ?
To me it’s hard to believe and perhaps there might be a blown bulb or something else but should be an oil warning light there to the left like on this picture. You can look day time with your phone flash or torch or under direct sunlight if there are icon markings for a oil pressure light and if yes then means there is but it’s not working for some reason.

An oil level sensor is installed in the engine. So some kind of warning will pop up when this will be a problem.

Hi Robert, Your correct there is a low level warning sensor fitted but that doesn't tell the drive if the pressure is low. It seems that car manufacturers are very remiss in not fitting a pressure warning light. 🙄

I come across red and yellow warning lights its the same light LED  but controlled by two sensors

red low oil amber not sure what it was for now it was a VW car and removing the sensor and cleaning it fixed it.

So it was looking at the dirt in the oil.

Hope it helps.

It certainly does have one BUT it's just not programmed to illuminate at the pre start warning light check.

Something Peugeot / Citroen has been doing for the last 20+ years when they first introduced multiplexed electrical systems across there product ranges.
