Cat stolen - same day as service by Toyota...

I've finally joined the club of people who's cats have been stolen.  What's a bit suspicious is it was the night after going to Toyota for a full service - having never been to Toyota in my ownership before.

Two questions

- has anyone else noticed that link between a visit to a garage and a theft?

- I'm obviously going to get a guard fitted once the cat is replaced, what's the consensus on the best one?  Catloc?  Something else?

Many thanks!

Jake

Sorry to hear that happened to you. Perhaps just a bad luck and simply a coincidence visiting dealer and stolen cat in the very same day. After a new one fitted it’s a good idea to ask them to fit car lock and you can remove hybrid badges from the car to make it look like non hybrid ones, which are less affected.
Good luck

Sorry to hear this theft. I was at looking at the option to upgrade my Yaris to the auris hybrid a few years ago until I read the horror stories of cat theft.

Surely you are not suggesting the dealership had anything to do with this? I mean i heard many bad dealership stories but not one that pass on the details of customers to criminals. Unless a rogue employee, doubt that very much.

My cat was stolen.

You are not alone.

It affects peace of mind.

The word 'coincidence' exists.

There is a reason why.

With time, you'll put it behind you.

But you may never trust leaving your car, parked anywhere.

Eventually I came to accept the reality - that it's not in my control.

Part & Parcel, of owning a car, with its crown jewels, hanging out, for the world to see.

Salut.

That sucks, I hope your insurance sorts it out quickly! Make them put a catlock on while they're at it!!!

It seems like Barnet is a borough to avoid as apparently it's flaring up there - a work colleague had it stolen off her ancient Honda CR-V of all things!

I thought cat theft was on decline, it seems like I was wrong.

I thought it was too, but I guess some places are still hotspots for it...!

Catloc is what I have now.

Make sure to fit the official toyota TILT alarm - (£100 from toyota) - regardless of what Shield you go for.

If you go through you insurance company, you might get the Catlock + TILT fitted as part of the repair.

But - that's because I insisted that the car is taken to Toyota for the replacement Cat. Why? Because there were rumours some insurers were replacing with non-original parts due to a shortage at the time.
