Mirror control switch, should they be backlit?

Just wondering if the mirror control switch on my 2008 T25 TR D-4D should be lit?

The headlight adjuster is but not the mirror controls.

I've taken a photo from behind and underneath, but haven't pulled anything out, though to me that just looks like wires and no small bulb holders.

Any thoughts?

No, it's not you can swap out the switch for an illuminated on, but it requires some wiring

yours has bright white printed text and arrows, the illuminated switches a dull white

the illumination is by let there are 2 versions fully illuminated and half illuminated

Note, my Yaris/Auris switch also does auto folding mirrors

 

the prius also uses the same switches
