1993 Toyota 1.3 GLi petrol. Reliable?

Hello. I've been offered a low mileage 1993 Toyota 1.3 GLi petrol in good condition.

I know Toyota's have a good reputation for reliability but can someone let me know  how this particular model stands up please.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Unless you are a diy car enthusiast looking for a new project, regardless or reliable or not, think a 30 year car would be a money pit and finding  certain spares very, very difficult or expensiive.

I have 2 1993 Corollas albeit 1.6 engines. It's all down to condition and history. Most "normal" maintenance parts are still available but the more obscure bits are now difficult to get or expensive. The biggest challenge I find I have is making sure that rust doesn't take hold of the underside. Mechanically I've hardly ever had an issue - in fact the only thing that's ever broken rather then worn out was the lever assembly that opens the tailgate and petrol cap - it took me months to get one. However, both my cars have had very regular maintenance since new - if anything they have probably been "overserviced".
