Can the boot lid of toyota avensis be removed or replaced

Hi, 

I got a Toyota Avensis saloon 2009 car. There is a boot lid in the car which seems to be permanently fixed to the car - see attached picture.

Does anyone have any idea whether I can remove it and is it safe to remove? Best option would be if I can replace the fixed lid with something foldaway lid.

i was looking into this myself with my t27 2014 i wanted to put 6x9 Speakers in there but proble,m is the boot tensioner hinges are in there so wont be heavy to open and close so dont think will work
