Starter motor relay

Hey all I might be going mad but my car stalled the other day and refused to crank or attempt to start, the batteries fine so I'm in the process of changing the starter motor, BUT when checking the relays there doesnt seem to be a starter relay there....... I can see where it's supposed to be, but theres nothing there, now it cant of vanished nor has anyone taken it out but am I being thick here?

1kr-fe with a manual doesn't use a starter relay - power for the solenoid comes off the ignition switch so it's 1 of 4 items - starter motor, ignition switch, 30a AM2 fuse or a wiring issue

Check to see if a small thin wire has come loose or away from the small "spade" connector on the starter motor.

This is the feed from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid.
