Battery low on fob

Last night I couldn't open my car the fob must of been cold and the Battery low. I used the key but it set off the alarm, I struggled to turn it off. Eventually it worked. Question is, is there a way of turning the alarm off without the fob if I lock it by accident with the fob but won't open? Also what Battery do I need to replace it? Cheers guys

If it's a smart key and the Battery is so dead the remote unlock does't work, the way to turn off the alarm is to press the Start button with the fob (Or just hold it up to it and press it, but it's easier to press it with the fob IMHO!)

If you used the key I assume you found the little switch thing on the fob - With the key released you should be able to use it to split the two halves of the fob apart to get access to the key compartment.

(Depends on the keyless fob, but most of the Toyota ones are some variation on this)

In my experience of cars from that era, if you start the engine then the alarm will stop. I guess this is because until you do that, the car ECU has not communicated with the transponder in the key to ensure that the key is one of those paired with the car. So until that happens it sounds the alarm in case a physical copy of a paired key has been used.
