I recently took ownership of the BZ4X from a Toyota main dealer. A few days later I had the Nextbase 380GWX front and rear dash cameras supplied and fitted by the same dealer from whom I purchased the vehicle. The dash cams were hard-wired and on returning home I noticed that the technician had taken a piggy-back off one of the existing fuses (P/OUTLET No. 1) in the fuse box in the driver's foot well. In doing so, he was unable to refit the fuse box cover, and the fuses are therefore now exposed and unprotected. These fuses of course control many of the vehicle's on-board diagnostics, airbags etc. The technician in fact simply left the fuse box cover in the centre console.

I contacted the dealership by email and have been assured in writing that it will not be an issue. However I feel that this is a significant oversight in design by Toyota, particularly since Toyota describe this dash cam as an "Integrated Toyota Dash Cam" and a "Bespoke design for integration in all current Toyota models".

Surely Toyota should have come up with a better solution than this, i.e. having to leave all the fuses in the driver's foot well exposed and unprotected. I have written to Toyota and their reply was simply "Thank you very much for taking the time to provide this feedback, we will ensure that it is passed onto our Wider Product Team. If there is anything else we can do to help in the meantime, please let us know". Nice swerve!

I'd be interested to know if anybody else has had a similar experience or perhaps a solution?

Yes that’s correct I had one fitted to my corolla by the dealer and I queried the fact that the fuse cover was left off it will not fit if the dash cam is piggy backed off the fuse mine was piggy backed off the 12 V supply fuse to the 12V socket. Been like it now for 2 years with no Problems.

Same here.  However there was a Dashcam recommendation somewhere in the forum that was truely integrated.  The mirror module had a sliding cover, on removal it gave access to a plug into which the camera could be plugged.  I think the the camera was a conformal fit to this cluster too.
