MK1 Yaris silencer heat shield

It's been rattling about for a while now and today it decided to fall off completely. It is beyond repair as the bolt mounting areas came away from the shield. I can't find one anywhere. Is it safe to run the car as is or should I make one myself?

Do you mean the one at the rear? The L-shaped one? If so, mine fell off my old yaris and i ran it with no adverse effect for about 2 years

Yes that's the one. Good to hear I can still drive it as is. Though I think I will be making one up just to be on the safe side!

Hi Alex,

Not sure how bad your old heat shield was but if you still have the thing to hand you may be able to refit it using suitable large washers under the bolt head/nuts/fixings to hold the shield in place. Have done this on several of my previous vehicles and saved greater expense.

Thanks Derek. Yes I've considered it but the holes are massive! However I may be able to turn it upside down and drill some new mounting holes. Or just make another. Pretty simple really and it's wafer thin ally...
